Job summary

Wheelcare Express, Inc. is seeking full-time drivers to transport clients to medical appointments in Northern California. Many clients require wheelchair or gurney transport and compassionate, friendly service is essential.

You will drive safely in medical transport vehicles, perform pre-shift inspections, document trips, and follow all safety and COVID protocols. A valid CA driver's license, clean driving record, and ability to pass tests and background checks are required; training provided.

Qualifications

• Must have valid California Driver’s License.
• Good Driving Record and clean history.
• Pass alcohol & drug tests.
• Pass background check.
• Complete First Aid & CPR training.
• Pass Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical.
• Positive attitude, good communication, empathetic and polite.
• NEMT driver experience is a plus, training provided.

Responsibilities

• Transport patients to medical appointments in safe, efficient, and timely manner.
• Observe and follow all traffic rules and regulations.
• Inspect vehicle before shift: fuel, oil, water, tires, lights, brakes, steering; report defects.
• Document all trips and incidents; notify supervisor.
• Keep vehicle clean and fueled; manage documentation via phone apps.
• Operate wheelchairs and gurney lifts as required.
• Communicate with dispatch; follow safety and COVID protocols.
• Instruct clients on safe riding rules and regulations.

Wheelcare Express Inc. is a non-emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) company that has been proudly serving many counties in Northern California for over 40 years. Wheelcare Express, Inc. currently has offices in Sacramento, San Leandro/Oakland, San Mateo, Santa Rosa/Solano and Tracy.

WCE is looking for full-time drivers to transport clients to and from medical appointments and other engagements. Many of our clients are disabled and may need to be transported by wheelchair or gurney.

If you don’t like being in an office all day, have an excellent driving record, are compassionate and friendly and enjoy meeting and helping people, we would like to hear from you.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Transport patients to various locations in our medical transport vehicles in a safe efficient and timely manner.
• Observe and follow all traffic rules and regulations.
• Inspect vehicles before shift by checking fuel, oil, water, tires, lights, brakes and steering to ensure vehicle can be operated safely. Notify supervisor of mechanical defects or needed repairs.
• Report and document all accidents, vehicle damage, client incidents and mechanical failures.
• Complete trip documentation (mainly via phone applications).
• Keep assigned vehicle clean and fueled.
• Wheelchair and Gurney lift operation
• Communicate with Dispatch.
• Follow safety and COVID protocols
• Instruct clients on safe riding rules and regulations

QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid California Driver’s License. Good Driving Record.
• Must be at least 23 years old
• Ability to pass alcohol & drug test
• Ability to pass background check
• Ability to pass First Aid & CPR training course
• Ability to pass Department of Transportation (DOT) Physical
• Must have a positive attitude, good communication skills and be empathetic and polite.
• Past NEMT Driver experience is a plus, but not mandatory. We will train you!
