Job summary

Seattle Preparatory School seeks a Neighborhood Relations/Campus Security team member to patrol the neighborhood and campus, enforcing parking rules and maintaining safety. The role reports to the Dean of Students and requires evening hours from 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM during the school year.

Responsibilities include monitoring for disturbances, operating camera systems, conducting evacuations, and assisting with events. Valid CPR/First Aid and background checks are required.

• A high school diploma, and a minimum of two years of related experience, or a combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job

• Conducts routine patrols of the neighborhood to ensure that students are in adherence to our neighborhood agreement for parking.
• Communicates daily upon arriving with the Campus Ambassador/Security lead regarding evening responsibilities.
• Helps to enforce garage rules associated with speed limit, parking, and student behavior.
• Will make reasonable efforts to mitigate tensions with neighbors.
• Monitors students in buildings and/or on campus; watches for unauthorized persons and disturbances.
• Monitors surveillance camera system and prepares incident backups for the Dean of Students or law enforcement as needed.
• Conducts sweeps of the facilities upon arrival and secures assigned areas.
• Escort students and visitors as needed.
• Conducts locker and property searches as assigned.
• Provides assistance for scheduled after hours activities on and off campus.
• May be asked to be a security presence during evening events.
• Assist with evacuation during drills and emergencies or lockdowns.
• End-of-shift checks to secure buildings, doors, and windows.
• Prepare incident reports as requested.

Purpose:

The Neighborhood Relations/Campus Securityposition provides reports to the Dean of Students, assists with monitoring student parking in the neighborhood, seeks to support positive relationships. with the school's neighbors and maintains a visible presence on the campus to assist in creating a safe and secure learning environment. Hours of work are 10:30 AM - 7:00 PM. Months of work are the school year plus one week before and after. Generally this is mid-August through mid-June, actual dates vary slightly.

Essential Functions:

• Conducts routine patrols of the neighborhood to ensure that students are in adherence to our neighborhood agreement for parking. If a student is found to be in violation of the neighborhood agreement, will communicate the violation to the Dean of Students and assign JUG.
• Communicates daily upon arriving with the Campus Ambassador/Security lead. regarding various topics associated with evening responsibilities. Helps to enforce garage rules associated with speed limit, parking, and student behavior.
• Will make reasonable efforts to mitigate tensions with neighbors.
• Monitors students in buildings and/or on campus. Watches for unauthorized persons, suspicious/criminal activity, disturbances, fights and school rule violations and reports these to the Dean of Students and/or to the proper authorities.
• Monitors surveillance camera system, conduct camera searches, and prepare back-up of incidents for the Dean of Students and/or law enforcement as needed.
• Conducts sweeps of the facilities upon arrival to the school and secure assigned areas as requested.
• Escort students and visitors as needed.
• Conducts locker and property searches as assigned.
• Provides assistance for scheduled after hours activities on and off campus.
• May be asked to be a security presence during evening events such as home basketball games, open house, and curriculum night.
• Assist with evacuation of buildings during drills and actual emergencies or emergency lockdowns and review and update crisis intervention plan and/or evacuation procedures.
• At the end of the shift, checks and secures all buildings, doors, windows, etcetera.
• Prepare incident reports as requested.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary Range: $48,000 - $51,000 annually. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications. This is a full-time, salaried non-exempt position eligible for overtime pay, with school breaks and summers off.

• $20,100 annual benefits allowance to use toward medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, and a flexible spending account.
  • OR- Take the cash instead. If you don't enroll in school-sponsored insurance because you qualify for medical benefits someplace else (like a spouse's plan) you can receive the benefits allowance as supplemental pay.
