City of Indianapolis Marion County seeks an Advocate to represent the Mayor’s Office and neighborhood constituents. You will engage residents and businesses, resolve issues, and promote transparency in policy and initiatives.

The role requires travel to meetings, strong communication, and collaboration with city staff and external partners. Reports to the Director of Community Outreach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, Planning, Management, or closely related field.
• Two (2) years of directly related work experience; substitution rules apply for education.

Responsabilités

• Serves as a resource and connector for residents and neighborhood organizations regarding city policies and procedures.
• Attends community meetings to hear concerns and directs them to appropriate officials.
• Educates the public on zoning interpretation, land use issues, and public participation processes.
• Liaisons with residents, neighborhood groups, builders, and government units on development and permits.
• Builds relationships with neighborhood leaders and staff and mentors future leaders.
• Covers the Mayor’s Action Center phones one quarter each year.
