Job summary

Inotiv is seeking a Necropsy Technician I to support necropsy procedures and histology-related tasks in our Durham, NC facility. You will perform organ weights, tissue identification and trimming, and document findings in electronic systems in line with GLP standards.

The role requires handling animal tissues in a compliant environment, with opportunities to train across departments in in vivo toxicology and histology.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent required; BS in Biology or related field preferred.
• Experience in a GLP laboratory environment is preferred.
• Experience with animal tissue handling and histology processes is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for upcoming studies or projects in vivo.
• Perform necropsy procedures and tissue identification per SOP.
• Record organ weights and document gross lesion descriptions.
• Conduct electronic data entry per GLP guidelines.
• Perform animal euthanasia under approved protocols.
• Assist in tissue trimming and embedding per SOP and NIEHS guidelines.
• Support data documentation and QC activities.
• Contribute to cross-department tasks in vivo toxicology and histology.

The Necropsy Technician I assists with the preparation and in performing all necropsy functions in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and company regulations.
