Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. Groton is seeking an experienced Radiographic Interpreter to evaluate film and CR/DR radiographs of nickel-based castings. You will determine conformance to customer specifications, decide if parts are acceptable, and route for repairs as needed.

Responsibilities include reviewing paperwork and weld maps, selecting required views, checking radiographic quality, and documenting findings. The role requires safety adherence and readiness for on‑site production workloads.

Qualifications

• Advanced radiographer skills demonstrated by competent performance.
• High school diploma or GED required for NDT certification.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to read and interpret technique cards, procedures, and specs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 20 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally.
• X-ray experience in nickel-based castings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review paperwork, technique cards, and specs prior to evaluation.
• Determine views needed and ensure Level I provides all required views.
• Review weld maps to ensure radiographs were performed.
• Check radiographs for proper sensitivity, density, and coverage.
• Interpret radiographs to accept or route parts for repair.
• Identify surface and subsurface discontinuities per customer specs.
• Mark areas for repair and route for necessary actions.
• Ensure proper radiograph filing and storage; perform equipment checks.
