Job summary

Applied Technical Services seeks Level II VT/MT Technicians for Newport News Shipyard, VA, attached to ATS Chesapeake, VA office. Two hiring paths: full-time with benefits: $38/hr to start and $40/hr after 6 months; full-time without benefits: $46/hr to start and $48/hr after 6 months.

Per diem, currently $178/day, available after VT/MT II certification and HII TPE. Per diem is paid for days worked (≥8 hours).

Qualifications

• NDT Level II VT/MT credentials with documentation of education, training and experience.
• NAVSEA or shipyard experience is a plus.
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform VT and MT examinations per procedures, codes, standards and specifications.
• Set up and utilize NDT testing equipment.
• Operate handheld grinder to remove detected discontinuities.
• Be familiar with scope and limitations of methods and guide trainees as needed.
• Interface with managers and clients to determine scope and priorities.
• Prepare written instructions and report results of examinations.
• Work independently and support team members.
• Participate in ATS and Client Safety Programs.
