Elgen Staffing represents a prestigious nationwide law firm client in Hampton, VA seeking an experienced NDT Technician. You will perform nondestructive examinations, document results, and ensure conformance to drawings and procedures within a make-to-print environment.

The role requires strong attention to detail and Level II certification on applicable NDT methods. Responsibilities include setup and standardization of equipment, interpretation of results, and maintaining thorough records.

Qualifications

• Must hold current Level II certification in NDT per ASNT SNT-TC-1A and customer requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and procedures.
• Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, shipbuilding or related industrial NDT environments.
• Copy of High School diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Perform NDT examinations per approved procedures and criteria.
• Set up, standardize, and verify equipment and reference standards for the method.
• Interpret and evaluate results and document accept/reject determinations.
• Prepare complete, traceable inspection records and objective evidence.
• Verify current procedures, drawings, travelers and related documents.
• Document nonconforming conditions and support corrective actions.
• Support inspection of weldments and other components requiring NDT verification.
• Perform dimensional checks using calipers, micrometers, height gauges and related tools.
• Provide on-the-job guidance to trainees as applicable.

Job description

Our client, a prestigious, nationwide, law firm dedicated to providing legal services to financial institutions, has an immediate need for an experienced NDT Technician, to join their winning team in Hampton.

Our candidate of choice will be responsible for performing and documenting assigned nondestructive examinations in support of product verification and acceptance activities. You will confirm conformance to applicable drawings, specifications, approved procedures, customer requirements, and internal quality system controls within a make-to-print manufacturing environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform assigned NDT examinations in accordance with approved procedures, applicable acceptance criteria, customer flowdowns, and internal quality requirements.
• Set up, standardize, verify, and use approved equipment, reference standards, and consumables required for the assigned examination method.
• Interpret and evaluate examination results within Level II authority and record accept/reject determinations to the applicable criteria.
• Prepare complete, accurate, and traceable inspection records and objective evidence supporting product acceptance.
• Verify use of current revisions of procedures, drawings, specifications, travelers, and related inspection documentation.
• Identify and document nonconforming conditions and support containment, reinspection, repair verification, and corrective action activities as assigned.
• Support in-process, final, and special inspection activities for weldments, fabricated components, assemblies, and other product features requiring NDT verification.
• Perform dimensional inspection activities as assigned, including verification of critical characteristics using approved measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, indicators, fixed gages, and related tools; compare results to drawing requirements, tolerances, and acceptance criteria; and document inspection results accurately and completely.
• When specifically qualified and authorized, perform method-specific review and documentation activities for advanced methods in accordance with approved procedures.
• Provide on-the-job guidance to trainees or Level I personnel as assigned within the limits of the employer's written practice and program controls.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

• Current employer-based Level II certification in the applicable assigned NDT method(s) in accordance with the employer's written practice based on ASNT SNT-TC-1A and applicable customer or contractual requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to perform method-specific setup, standardization, examination, interpretation, evaluation, and documentation within assigned Level II scope.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, technical procedures, workmanship requirements, and applicable acceptance criteria.
• Demonstrated ability to perform basic dimensional inspection and verification using standard measuring tools and gaging methods, including interpretation of dimensions, tolerances, geometric callouts when applicable, and required documentation of objective evidence.
• Knowledge of traceability, revision control, record retention, and objective evidence requirements supporting product acceptance.
• Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, shipbuilding, or a comparable industrial environment performing nondestructive examinations on weldments, materials, or finished components.
• Satisfactory vision examination and continued qualification maintenance as required by the employer's written practice.
• Strong attention to detail, sound technical judgment, and ability to communicate inspection results clearly and accurately.
• Copy of High School diploma/Transcript or GED is required, and a copy must be supplied by the candidate to be considered for this position on or before the first day of employment.
