Job summary

Sabre Industries, Inc. is seeking a skilled NDT Inspector to perform visual, magnetic particle, MT and UT inspections at our Ohio facility. Responsibilities include interpreting codes, reading blueprints, and ensuring product conformance to customer specs.

Requirements include AWS D1.1 visual weld inspection and substantial MT/UT classroom and on‑the‑job training. The role emphasizes training teammates and maintaining strict quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Meet the AWS D1.1 requirements of a visual weld inspector.
  • 20 hours of MT classroom training per STN‑TC‑1A with 280 OJT hours.
  • 80 hours of UT classroom training per STN‑TC‑1A with 840 OJT hours.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret codes, standards, and documents that control NDT methods used by Sabre Industries/FWT facilities.
  • Conduct in process and final visual weld and dimensional inspections per AWS D1.1.
  • Perform MT inspections as a Level II.
  • Perform UT inspections as a Level II.
  • Provide training and guidance for I inspectors.
  • Verify product to specification.
  • Read blueprints and understand manufacturing practices.
  • Communicate clearly with coworkers as a company representative.
  • Follow departmental policies and safety standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information.

Scope of Responsibility

This position is responsible for conducting visual inspections, Magnetic Particle Inspection, and limited Ultrasonic Testing of products before, during and after production processes to assure compliance with the Company’s standards and the Customer’s specifications.

Essential Duties
  • Have the skills and knowledge to interpret codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control NDT methods used by Sabre Industries/FWT facilities
  • Conduct in process and final visual weld and dimensional inspections in accordance with AWS D1.1
  • Perform MT inspections as a Level II in accordance with Sabre’s quality requirements
  • Perform UT inspections as a Level II in accordance with Sabre’s quality requirements
  • Conduct training and guidance for I inspectors
  • Verify product to specification
  • Read blueprints and understand manufacturing practices
  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, to co‑workers and subordinates as a representative of the company
  • Assist with any other projects as needed
  • Follow established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, safety, environmental, and/or infectious control standards
  • Maintain confidentiality of records and information
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Provide training, mentor, coach and evangelize a passion for quality, customer satisfaction and a client view within/throughout the Sabre Industries businesses
  • Additional duties as assigned
  • Maintain regular and on‑time attendance and work in your scheduled shift

Position Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience
  • Meet the AWS D1.1 requirements of a visual weld inspector
  • 20 hours of MT classroom training per STN‑TC‑1A along with the associated verifiable 280 OJT hours
  • 80 hours of UT classroom training per STN‑TC‑1A along with the associated verifiable 840 OJT hours
Skills & Abilities
  • Effectively read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols
  • Basic knowledge of welding fundamentals
  • Work indoor and outdoor, in all types of weather conditions such as rain, snow, heat, and cold
  • Strong English verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented and able to multi‑task in a fast‑paced, team environment
  • Input and retrieve information from PC‑based information systems
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety and quality manuals, blueprints, design drawings, and use measuring and testing equipment
  • Use measuring devices such as tape measure, combination squares, levels, etc. to accurately verify all parts to print
  • Regular and timely attendance
Physical Requirements
  • Stand for long periods of time
  • Lift, push, pry, and drag heavy materials up to 50 lbs
  • Reach, grasp, bend, stoop, crawl under or climb over to inspect product
  • Pass the Jaeger 2 test and distinguish between red and yellow
  • Work in a manufacturing environment that could be noisy, dusty and vary in temperature
