Job summary

Sabre Industries is seeking a quality inspector to inspect welded, painted, galvanized, and manufactured parts for conformance to drawings and QC processes. The role requires MT (dry powder) inspections and strict adherence to AWS D1.1 standards.

The candidate should read blueprints, interpret weld symbols, and maintain accurate quality records while working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Physical demands include standing, lifting, and working outdoors as needed.

Qualifications

• Must meet AWS D1.1 requirements of a visual weld inspector.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two-year Associate/Technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect tacked, welded, painted, galvanized and manufactured parts for quality per the company’s QC processes.
• Perform MT inspections (dry powder) on weldments.
• Communicate clearly via email, text, or verbally.
• Ensure inspections comply with Sabre’s quality standards.
• Conduct in-process and final visual weld and dimensional inspections per AWS D1.1.
• Verify and maintain inspection/test status of product during manufacturing.
• Initiate corrective action on nonconforming conditions.
• Maintain quality records and ensure legibility and completeness.
• Visually inspect parts to ensure conformance to drawings/specifications.
• Ensure customer requirements are met or exceeded.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.

Scope of Responsibility:

This position is responsible for inspecting tacked, welded, painted, galvanized and manufactured parts and components for quality per the Company’s quality control processes and procedures. Preform MT inspection (dry powder) on weldments.

• Communicates clearly and concisely via email, text, or verbally


• Ensures all inspections comply with Sabre’s quality standards


• Conducts in process and final visual weld and dimensional inspections in accordance with AWS D1.1


• Preforms MT inspections (dry powder) in accordance to Sabre's quality requirements


• Verifies and maintains inspection and test status of product during all stages of manufacturing


• Verifies rework and repair of nonconforming products


• Initiates requests for corrective action on observed conditions which do not conform to quality system requirements


• Prepares, reviews and maintains Quality records appropriate to inspection and test activities to assure legibility, completeness, and correctness of the information


• Visually inspects manufactured parts to ensure they are manufactured per the drawings/specifications


• Ensures that customer requirements are determined and met or exceeded


• Contributes to a safe working environment by being responsible for quality, safety, organization, and cleanliness in area of operation


• Contributes to team effort by communicating and working well with others, as well as accomplishing related tasks as needed


• Maintains a professional demeanor at all times


• Performs other duties as assigned

Position Requirements:

Education: 20 hours of MT class room training per STN-TC-1A is required.Must be able to meet the AWS D1.1 requirements of a visual weld inspector. High school diploma or equivalent. Two-year Associate/Technical degree preferred.

Experience: Recent experience working with Quality Control in a welding/manufacturing environment preferred. Must be able to read blueprints (engineering drawings). Must be able to read a tape measure to 1/16 of an inch.

Skills & Abilities:

• Effectively read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols


• Must possess strong English verbal and written communication skills


• Must be detail oriented and have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced, team environment


• Must possess the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety and quality manuals, blueprints, and design drawings


• Ability to efficiently input and retrieve information from PC based information systems


• Ability to effectively use measuring devices such as a tape measure, combination squares, levels, etc. to accurately verify all parts to print


• Regular and timely attendance is required

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to perform work functions while standing for long periods of time.


• Must be able to lift, push pry and drag heavy materials up to 50 lbs.


• Must be able to reach, grasp, bend, stoop, crawl under or climb over to inspect product


• Must be able to pass the Jaeger 2 test and distinguish between red and yellow


• Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, and in all types of weather conditions such as rain, snow, heat, and cold
