Job summary

Tundra Technical Solutions is seeking an NDT Technician for a Boeing contract assignment in the WA area. The role covers setting up NDT equipment, performing multiple non-destructive testing methods, and ensuring compliance with NAS410 standards.

You will train toward required certifications, assist in developing procedures, and collaborate with engineering and QA to address non-conformances. This is a contract position with on-site work and potential for further training.

Responsibilities

• Set up and standardize equipment, conduct system performance checks, document results.
• Obtain formal training hours for any certification (e.g. Computed Tomography).
• Be familiar with the scope and limitations of the technique and/or method.
• Assist in the development and implementation of NDT procedures and work instructions.
• Provide guidance and supervision to trainees and Level 1 personnel and ensure safety protocols.
• Maintain NDT equipment and ensure calibration and functioning.
• Inspect and report issues with reference standards to the method level 3 and NDT manager.
• Collaborate with engineering and QA to address non-conformance issues.
• Participate in audits and inspections and stay current with industry standards.
• Have basic knowledge of aircraft or vehicle maintenance.
• Develop written work instructions from approved procedures for final Engineer approval.
• May perform method surveillances in EPES and address findings as required.

Job description

This posting is for a contract assignment and is not a full-time employment offer with Boeing. Candidates selected for roles will be employed as contract workers through a Boeing approved 3rd party for the duration of the specified project.

Responsible for performing and overseeing nondestructive testing (NDT) procedures in accordance with NAS410/BSS7698 standards. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity and safety of aerospace components and systems. The technician will utilize various NDT methods, including but not limited to ultrasonic, eddy current, radiographic, magnetic particle, and dye penetrant testing, to detect defects and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Have the skills and knowledge to set up and standardize equipment, conduct system performance checks, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results.
• Successfully obtain the formal training hours required for any method where certification is being pursued, and any additional add-on formal training required by the company based on the demands of the business. (e.g. Computed Tomography training).
• Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the technique and/or method in which they are certified.
• Assist in the development and implementation of NDT procedures and work instructions.
• Have the skills and knowledge to conduct system performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard.
• Be familiar with the codes, standards, and other contractual specifications that control the Method used at their Site.
• Be capable of providing the necessary guidance and/or supervision to trainees and Level 1 personnel in the technique and/or method in which they are certified and applicable safety protocols.
• Have a basic knowledge of relevant product manufacturing and inspection technology.
• Maintain NDT equipment and ensure it is calibrated and functioning correctly.
• Inspect and report any issues with or damage to reference standards used to perform the approved technique to the method level 3 and NDT manager.
• Collaborate with engineering and quality assurance teams to address any non-conformance issues.
• Participate in audits and inspections as required by regulatory bodies and internal quality systems.
• Stay current with industry standards, advancements in NDT technology, and best practices.
• Have basic knowledge of aircraft or vehicle maintenance.
• Be capable of developing written work instructions from approved general procedures. Such instructions require final approval by an Engineer Level 3, or Level 3 certified in the method.
• May be delegated to perform certain method surveillances in EPES, and also work to address any findings identified in an EPES surveillance when required.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree in a related field preferred. Documented formal training in Nondestructive testing is required but may be added as necessary.
• Certification: NAS410/BSS7698 Level 2 certification in at least one NDT method (e.g. Radiographic).
• Skills:
• Strong understanding of NDT principles and techniques.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Strong ethical standards with a desire to maintain a high level of quality.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Location/Training Comments: Candidates must be willing to train outside of the Washington location listed to obtain the NDT certification.

Pay Rate Range: 23 - 28 USD hourly
