Boeing Future of Flight is seeking an experienced Nondestructive Evaluation Technical Analyst for a contract assignment to support the Berkeley, MO lab as the NDE focal. You will lead NDE testing, develop test plans, and coordinate with suppliers and customers to resolve complex issues while ensuring safety and compliance on aerospace programs.

The role is 100% onsite with potential for contract-to-permanent hire after six months.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Nondestructive Evaluation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM tools and systems (CAD/CAM, CATIA, Mentor Graphics, Unigraphics).
  • ASNT Level 2 in Eddy Current and Ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation testing methods.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time minimum.

Responsibilities

  • Apply NDE methods such as acoustic, electromagnetic, thermal, optical, and radiologic techniques to analyze parts and materials.
  • Lead complex analysis of failed parts to reduce future failures.
  • Develop test plans and determine root causes with documented results.
  • Maintain compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations.
  • Lead updates to procedures and specifications.
  • Coordinate resolutions with suppliers and customers on complex issues.
  • Support audits, root cause analyses, and failure investigations as SME.
  • Support continuous improvement by developing new concepts and technology.

Job description

This posting is for a contract assignment and is not a full-time employment offer with Boeing. Candidates selected for roles will be employed as contract workers through a Boeing approved 3rd party for the duration of the specified project.

BDS is looking for a Nondestructive Evaluation Technical Analyst to support our team in Berkeley, MO as the NDE Lab focal. We are looking at a range of experience, including Mid-Level and Lead level NDE Technicians to lead Nondestructive Evaluation testing in the Berkeley, MO. lab. The position is contact to permanent hire after six months of service.

The Midwest Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) and Fleet Support team is part of the BDS Engineering department. We are an engineering team supporting space, commercial and defense air vehicles programs such as: 787, 777X, F-15, F-18, AV-8B, T-7A, T-45, MQ-25, KC-46, P-8, B-52, B-1, KC-135, Executive Transport platforms, Commercial Crew Transportation, Space Launch, and weapon systems. Our team is responsible for NDE Engineering supporting of pre-production, current production, and post-production efforts.

Along with supporting the aforementioned space commercial and defense programs; the team provides supplier standup/certification, fabrication support/trouble-shooting and fleet support activities across the Boeing value stream. The team also conducts NDE research and development for both internal and external customers. Our team is located in three cities: Huntsville, AL; Oklahoma City, OK; and St. Louis, MO. The chosen candidate will support the St Louis, MO location.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Apply nondestructive evaluation (NDE) methods/approaches, such as acoustic, electromagnetic, thermal, optical, and radiologic principles, in performing complex analysis and evaluation of parts, materials, processes, technology or equipment through research and testing to ensure safety, reliability and adherence to requirements and specifications.
  • Leads, coordinates, and conducts complex analysis of failed parts and processes to reduce or eliminate future failures.
  • Generates test plans, identifies, and categorizes failure, determines root cause and documents results and recommendations.
  • Maintain compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations.
  • Leads the proposal, development, and validation of revisions to procedures and specifications.
  • Determines suitability of parts, materials and processes and coordinates resolution of complex issues with suppliers and customers.
  • Support audits, root cause analyses, and failure investigations as a subject matter expert.
  • Supports continuous improvement of products and processes by leading the design, development, fabrication, testing, evaluation and implementation of new concepts and technology.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Supports the Team Lead and work statement, assist defining strategies and/or provides consultation.

This position is expected to 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • 5+ years of experience in Nondestructive Evaluation
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of computer aided design tools and systems (e.g., computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), computer aided three dimensional interactive (CATIA), Mentor Graphics, Unigraphics).
  • ASNT Level 2 in Eddy Current and Ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation testing methods
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time minimum
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in NDE/NDT engineering in a regulated industry (e.g., aerospace, defense, energy).
  • Experience with nondestructive evaluation processes (e.g., ultrasonic testing, radiography, eddy current testing, and penetrant inspection)
  • ASNT Level 2 in multiple nondestructive evaluation processes (e.g., ultrasonic testing, radiography, eddy current testing, and penetrant inspection)
  • Experience working in multi-discipline teams, a strong desire to work with technical and non-technical customers.
  • Strong understanding of materials behavior, stress analysis, and fracture mechanics.
  • Experience with project management tools
  • Excellent time management skills to manage several simultaneous projects effectively and across various geographical locations.
  • Active / Current Secret U.S. Security Clearance preferred but not required.
