Job summary

Millerbernd Manufacturing is hiring an NDT Quality Technician 1 for our Winsted, MN facility. You will test and inspect products through multiple NDT methods, set up equipment, apply penetrants and couplant, and document results in production records.

Qualifications

• Prefer Level 2 certification in VT, MT, UT, PT per SNT-TC-1A.
• Welding background preferred; must pass practical examinations.
• Proficient in interpreting blueprints, mechanical drawings, schematic diagrams and welding symbols.
• Experience interpreting codes, standards, and specifications for examination methods.
• Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, email, and shop floor control applications.
• Ability to solve practical problems and read internal manufacturing paperwork.
• Ability to electronically record production information.
• Strong oral communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Determine test equipment settings based on metal type, thickness, and distance, using standard formulas.
• Set up equipment and conduct tests on parts per established procedures.
• Apply cleaners, penetrants, and developers, and apply couplant as needed.
• Perform visual, penetrant, ultrasonic, and magnetic particle tests to verify conformance.
• Mark conforming and defective areas on tested parts.
• Interpret results against standards using knowledge of metals and testing experience.
• Prepare reports outlining findings and conclusions.
• Make accept/reject decisions and escalate marginal evaluations to senior staff.
• Assist in monitoring and auditing weld procedures.
• Ensure proper fit-up and in-process weld quality.
• Inspect and calibrate test equipment; document results.
• Document NDT methods and results; mentor junior personnel as needed.
• Maintain regular attendance and communicate effectively with the team.
• Operate cranes, hoists, forklifts to move materials when required.
