Job summary

Piping Technology & Products (PT&P) in Houston, TX seeks an NDT Level 2 Technician – Digital Radiography to perform radiographic inspection of manufactured components, set up exposures, verify image quality, and maintain complete inspection records. The role also covers MT, VT, and PT as certified.

Responsibilities include operating X-ray tubes and detectors, executing QA checks, preparing inspection reports, and ensuring ALARA compliance in a heavy industrial setting.

Qualifications

• NDT Level 2 RT with DR/DDA endorsement.
• Certifications in MT, VT and PT for assigned inspections.
• Certification per recognized standards (SNT-TC-1A/CP-189/NAS 410/EN 4179).
• Texas Industrial Radiographer card with 3T status.
• Ability to pass annual near-vision and color-contrast tests.

Responsibilities

• Set up and safely operate X-ray tubes and DDA/flat-panel detectors per procedures.
• Adjust exposure parameters (kV, mA, time) and position source/detector for quality images.
• Place and evaluate IQIs/penetrameters; verify image quality before interpretation.
• Acquire, process and evaluate digital radiographs using imaging software.
• Interpret indications and document acceptance/rejection per drawings, procedures and codes.
• Perform equipment checks and support calibration/maintenance of X-ray and detectors.
• Prepare accurate inspection reports and maintain traceable digital records.
• Follow ALARA principles and radiation safety procedures; document controls.
