Job description

Job Title: NDT Assistant Technician

Mistras Group is seeking NDT Assistant Technicians who are local to Lima and/or Toledo, Ohio. Please note that relocation is not available for this position.

Job Description: The Assistant Technician will support Level II NDE Technicians with designated NDT activities while gaining experience and knowledge in the field.

Major Responsibilities and Activities:
  1. Assist technicians with setting up and dismantling equipment.
  2. Perform routine maintenance, calibrations, and upkeep of equipment and facilities.
  3. Assist with documenting services and preparing reports.
  4. Follow company policies and procedures.
  5. For Assistant Radiographers or Radiographer Trainees, additional responsibilities include:
  • Operating radiographic equipment only under supervision.
  • Maintaining constant surveillance of radiographic equipment during use.
  • Securing equipment from unauthorized access.
  • Preventing unauthorized personnel from entering restricted areas during operations.
  • Reporting incidents to safety personnel and assisting as needed.
  • Being trustworthy and reliable as per NRC criteria.
Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to perform various tasks and respond to short-notice work assignments, including occasional travel.
  • Good communication skills with clients, supervisors, and colleagues.
  • Reading technical documents and engineering specifications is preferred.
  • Ability to follow precise instructions and adapt to changing schedules.
Essential Physical Functions:
  • Work outdoors in plant or refinery environments.
  • Operate in high-noise environments with production machinery.
  • Wear safety equipment as required.
  • Work at multiple sites daily and tolerate climate changes.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 55 pounds.
