Job summary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Documented NDE Level II classroom training meeting the requirements of SNT-TC-1A or NAS-410 in two or more of VT, MT, PT, ET, UT.
  • Documented NDE Level II experience hours meeting the requirements of SNT-TC-1A or NAS-410 in two or more of VT, MT, PT, ET.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in NDT field with prior Level II certifications in at least 2 methods.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, AWS, ASME, military, etc.
  • Understanding basic math.
  • Ability to work with computers.
  • Ability to use MS Office applications.

  • Conduct NDT inspections using various methods in accordance with industry standards and contract specific requirements.
  • Interpret and report test results per industry standards and MTM’s Quality System
  • Apply the requirements of the Quality System in performance of daily assignments.
  • Report any anomalies (nonconformances, time overruns, accidents) to the NDT Team Leader.
  • Assist team members with technical support.
  • Maintain the work area (cleanliness, organization, etc.).
  • Take part in team meetings.

NDE Technician - 2nd Shift

Full Time Indianapolis, IN, US

Position Summary: NDT Technicians are responsible for safely inspecting products within the length of time estimated for the inspection operation. NDT Technicians should be a technical resource for the company in matters relating to nondestructive testing.

Reports To: Quality Assurance Manager

Personnel: Not applicable

Accountabilities: Execute nondestructive testing (NDT) operations, as described in the Manufacturing Routing, within the length of time estimated for the operation. Actual results in the form of work center efficiencies and non-conformances will be compared to the goals to evaluate whether the goal has been achieved. Maintain a neat, clean, orderly work area and operate in a safe manner.

Authorities: Determine the steps for executing and documenting quality inspection operations within the requirements described by the Manufacturing Routing and MTM’s Quality System.

Duties:

  • Support the assignments given to them by the NDT Team Leader.

Job Qualification Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Documented NDE Level II classroom training meeting the requirements of SNT-TC-1A or NAS-410 in two or more of the following: Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Eddy Current Testing (ET), Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
  • Documented NDE Level II experience hours meeting the requirements of SNT-TC-1A of NAS-410 in two or more of the following: Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Eddy Current Testing (ET)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in NDT field with prior Level II certifications in at least 2 methods
  • Knowledge of industry standards, AWS, ASME, military, etc.
  • Understanding basic math
  • Ability to work with computers
  • Ability to use MS Office applications

Physical Demands– The employee is required to:

  • stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor
  • exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
  • exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or
  • exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Certification Required– NDT Technicians will be required to be certified by MTM as Level II, or III in accordance with the Major Tool and Machine’s written practice.

Visual Acuity– Near acuity and accommodation are required for NDT operations, random visual checks, reading machine dial gauges, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts and machinery. Visual acuity testing is required annually. Accommodation must be made as required for reading and NDT activities.

Hearing Ability– Ability to communicate with employees.

Working Conditions– Normally works in a shop environment and may frequently be subject to:

  • High noise levels from machinery
  • Physical hazards from moving equipment and production components
  • Breathing fumes, dust and mist
  • Skin exposure to oils and cutting fluids
  • Welding flashes

The employee may be required to follow other job-related instructions and to perform other job-related duties as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.

Attendance is an essential job function.

Employees will operate in compliance with all recognized standards that Major Tool adheres to (such as AS9100, ISO 9000), including all supporting policies and procedures.
