Job summary

Columbia Energy & Environmental Services, Inc. in Richland, WA, is seeking a full-time NDE/QC Lead to oversee inspection and nondestructive examination activities at our fabrication facility.

You will lead inspection efforts, ensure compliance with codes and standards, and serve as the technical resource for QC, NDE, and welding quality. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong inspection expertise, solid judgment, and collaboration with internal teams, subcontractors, and client representatives.

Qualifications

• Current CWI certification with ability to maintain/recertify.
• NDE qualifications; ASNT VT, PT, MT, UT, RT, LT preferred.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply complex drawings, specs, codes, and docs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must pass background check and drug screen (drug-free workplace).
• U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Perform and manage QC inspections and NDE to verify compliance with codes, standards, procedures, and customer requirements.
• Conduct inspections to acceptance criteria and ensure quality documentation is complete and accurate.
• Verify adequacy of welding, inspection, NDE, and testing activities for fabrication work; review records.
• Coordinate with client quality representatives and resident inspectors.
• Serve as technical point of contact for NDE with subcontractors and clients.
• Oversee QC activities for internal and subcontract fabrication; ensure compliance with national codes, including NQA-1 where applicable.
• Plan and perform receiving, acceptance, and in-process inspections of safety-significant and general service materials and components.
• Identify quality issues, recommend corrective actions, and support resolution across facilities and job sites.
• Provide recommendations on inspection methods, procedures, standards, and equipment.
• Educate personnel on QC testing and NDE requirements; ensure procedures followed.
• Assist QA Manager with audits, surveillances, assessments, and QA/QC support activities.
• Maintain required certifications, including CWI and applicable NDE qualifications.
• Support training objectives related to quality and inspection.
• Perform NCR tracking/dispositions, Traveler Review and Closeout, Welding and NDE procedure issuance, etc.
