Job summary

American Electric Power Co. in Charleston, WV is seeking a semi-skilled NDE Inspector 3rd Class to perform nondestructive examinations and related tasks.

You will assist in liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, ultrasonic and visual inspections, operate analysis equipment, and help with cleaning, painting, and shop maintenance. The role requires a 2-year technical degree or equivalent experience, with progression toward second class within a year.

Qualifications

• Requires a 2-year technical degree or certificate or 2 years experience with a qualified contractor or service provider.
• Third class NDE Inspector must demonstrate the skills and abilities to perform duties and show progression toward second class within one year.

Responsibilities

• Assist in conducting inspections using approved tests (Liquid Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Ultrasonic, Visual).
• Operate or assist with video equipment, alloy analyzer, and hardness tester.
• Perform general parts cleaning and painting; maintain Central Machine Shop building and equipment.
• Report irregularities or abnormal conditions and take notes for records.
• Follow safety regulations and shop practices; support AEP culture and goals.
• Perform similar or lesser skilled work as assigned.
