Job summary

Dacon seeks an NCCCO-certified Crane Operator to safely operate mobile and truck-mounted cranes on substations and industrial projects in Kentucky. You will coordinate with riggers, inspect equipment, and ensure load chart compliance.

This role also covers substation crew support when not lifting, including steel erection and bus installation. Qualified candidates have at least 3 years' crane operating experience, NCCCO certification, OSHA 10, a valid driver's license, and willingness to travel

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Current NCCCO crane certification for the operated type(s) is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of documented crane operating experience in construction.
• Ability to read and apply load charts and calculate load weights, radii, and capacities.
• Knowledge of OSHA 1926 Subpart CC crane requirements, including power line clearance rules.
• Working knowledge of rigging practices, sling capacities, and standard hand signals.
• Willingness to perform hands-on craft work with the substation crew when lifting activities are not required.
• OSHA 10 certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable MVR.
• Ability to pass pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol screening, background checks, and client-specific site access requirements.
• Ability to travel to project sites, including overnight travel and extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Operate mobile, truck-mounted, rough terrain, and carry deck cranes within load chart limits.
• Set up crane on suitable surfaces, deploy outriggers and mats, verify level and stability.
• Calculate load weights, radii, boom configurations, and capacities; confirm before every lift.
• Coordinate lifts with qualified riggers and signalpersons using standard signals.
• Maintain clearance from energized power lines and enforce required approach distances.
