Job summary

Dacon is seeking a NCCCO-certified Crane Operator to safely operate mobile and truck-mounted cranes on substation, transmission, and civil projects. You will ensure load chart compliance, crane setup, and coordination with riggers on every lift while also supporting the substation crew when not lifting.

Responsibilities include planning, inspection, and maintenance, with a focus on safety, accuracy, and timely completion of lifts under the supervision of the Electrical Foreman.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent field experience.
• Current NCCCO certification for the crane type(s) to be operated.
• Minimum of 3 years crane operating experience in construction.
• Ability to read and apply load charts and calculate load weights, radii, and capacities.
• Knowledge of OSHA 1926 Subpart CC crane requirements and power line clearance rules.
• Rigging knowledge, sling capacities, and standard hand signals.
• Willingness to work with the substation crew when not lifting.

Responsibilities

• Operate mobile, truck-mounted, rough terrain, and carry deck cranes within load chart limits.
• Set up crane, deploy outriggers and mats, verify level and stability before lifting.
• Calculate load weights, radii, boom configurations, and confirm capacity before every pick.
• Coordinate lifts with qualified riggers and signalpersons using standard signals.
• Maintain clearance from energized lines and enforce approach distances during operations.
• Participate in lift planning and verify rigging configuration with the crew.
• Inspect and document daily crane inspections and maintain logs and records.
