Job summary

Entarian, based in Annapolis, MD, seeks a Marine Environmental Data Analyst to support NOAA NCBO. The role focuses on maintaining CBIBS and hypoxia buoy systems, data collection, storage, and interpretation to support habitat and fisheries decisions.

Telework is permitted, but weekly presence in the Annapolis office is required for vessel and equipment maintenance and field duties. Salary is approximately $60,000 - 70,000/year with full benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 2+ years relevant experience.
• Experience with operational support, data analysis and technical services.
• Knowledge of instrumentation maintenance for estuarine observations.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work with peers, supervisors, and agency officials.
• Moderate to high IT, web, and field operations skills.
• Operational knowledge of GIS project management.
• Operational knowledge of R-Studio or Python coding.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment.
• U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident and able to pass background check.

Overview/ Job Responsibilities

Entarian is seeking a Marine Environmental Data Analyst to support the NOAA Office of Habitat Conservation's NOAA Chesapeake Bay Office (NCBO) in Annapolis, MD. The position will support the Ecosystem Science & Synthesis program in two primary areas: 1) Maintenance and enhancement of the Chesapeake Bay Interpretive Buoy System (CBIBS), hypoxia buoy system, and related assets and information; 2) Collection, storage, use, and/or interpretation of observational data.

Duties include:

• Data collection, standardization and processing: provide ingest, standardization, and processing for CBIBS, hypoxia, and other observational data to ensure quality and readiness for product integration.
• Data Product Development: develop data and information products utilizing CBIBS, hypoxia and other observational data in support of NCBOs habitat and fisheries constituents.
• Data visualization and interpretation: design intuitive visualizations and interpretive materials to effectively communicate data product insights to NCBO's habitat and fisheries constituents.

Telework is permitted, however, duties required such as vessel maintenance, equipment maintenance, and field work will require weekly presence at the Annapolis, MD office.

The salary for this position is approximately $60,000 - 70,000/year.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Marine Science, Environmental Science or another applicable field, or related disciplines appropriate to the position and a minimum of two (2) years specialized experience.
• Experience with projects involving operational support, management, organizational, data analysis, and/or technical services.
• Knowledge of the processes for maintaining instrumentation and/or data in support of estuarine observations systems.
• Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, supervisors, agency officials and others.
• Moderate to high level of web, information technology, and/or field operations skills to help solve complex and unusual managerial, technical, operational, and/or administrative problems.
• Demonstrated operational knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Project management
• Demonstrated operational knowledge of R-Studio or Python coding
• Ability to exercise independent judgment.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident and be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to access applicable government systems and facilities.
