Westinghouse Electric Company in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Mechanical Engineer 1 to join the New Component and BWR Engineering team. The role focuses on design, analysis, and fabrication of replacement steam generators and primary components, with hybrid work options.

You will perform analytical calculations, develop design documentation, and collaborate with technical leads and customers to ensure successful project execution. Occasional travel to sites and nuclear plants may be required.

Qualifications

• BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or recognized equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for large component design, analysis, and fabrication; focus on replacement steam generators, AP1000 primary components, and BWR engineering.
• Perform analytical calculations (structural, dynamic and thermal hydraulic) and evaluations using a variety of engineering tools and methods. Develop documentation related to these calculations and analyses.
• Develop design documentation for safety and non-safety related hardware; this includes manufacturing drawings, functional and design specifications, and qualification reports.
• Work with technical leads, project managers, and customers in the coordination of activities associated with assigned work scope.
• Occasionally travel to customer and manufacturing vendor sites to provide on-site support, deliver presentations and aid in issue resolution.
• Willing to support occasional travel to a nuclear plant.

We estimate the base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, to be $58,400 to $73,000 per year.
