Job Title

NC New Teacher Instructional Support Coach

Overview

The NC New Teacher Support Program is seeking an Instructional Coach to support beginning teachers through consistent, individualized, in‑the‑moment coaching aligned to individualized growth and personalized professional development. The primary role is a 10‑month position supporting beginning teachers through the delivery of the program’s three core services: a 10‑professional‑learning institute, individualized instructional coaching, and aligned professional development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Facilitate collaborative, non‑evaluative and iterative coaching cycles, both in‑person and virtual, based on individual teacher needs utilizing research‑based components: individualized goal setting, lesson planning, share and model high‑impact instructional strategies, co‑teaching, observation & reflective feedback, analysis of student work/evidence, and analysis of formative & summative assessment data.
  • Assist in teacher leadership development and support the use of instructional technology.
  • Utilize program‑approved instructional coaching resources and platforms.
  • Design and facilitate professional learning sessions and institutes (in‑person & virtual).
  • Build teacher learning networks within the hub and state; align professional learning with district and school priorities.
  • Connect teachers to district, university, state, and national resources.
  • Collaborate with NC NTSP coaches, program office, school district staff, IHE faculty/staff, and state‑level agencies to improve program delivery.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning to further develop coaching expertise and program initiatives.
  • Collect and report data on coaching services, teacher growth, student outcomes, and research initiatives.
  • Serve on NC NTSP committees and design teams; support and implement research and development initiatives of the NC NTSP and research partners.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree and current NC teaching license required.
  • Minimum of five years teaching experience with measurable student outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading adult professional learning.
  • Knowledge of NC Standard Course of Study, NC Professional Teaching Standards, NC DPI Induction Program, Mentor Standards and teacher leadership standards.
  • Strong data collection, analysis, and evidence‑based decision‑making skills.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and technology skills.
  • Approachable, collaborative, reflective, motivating, and solutions‑focused.
  • Highly knowledgeable of the Teaching Fellows program and initiatives.
Additional Details
