The City of South Bend seeks responsible individuals to oversee the management of rafts and necessary equipment at the East Race Waterway during operational hours. This position includes duties such as loading equipment, ensuring guest safety, and enforcing park regulations. Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills and a willingness to learn on the job. The role requires working outdoors in various weather conditions, accommodating physical demands as necessary.
SALARY: up to $15 per hour.
POSITION SUMMARY: Employee would be responsible to haul and distribute rafts, helmets, paddles, and life jackets and help with line management during East Race rafting hours and private rentals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
NON-ESSENTIAL/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: Perform miscellaneous tasks as requested by the Aquatics and Ice Manager or East Race Supervisor
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Be able to learn on the job
CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATION: First Aid/CPR/AED certification (can provide certification if needed)
EQUIPMENT: Trucks, trailers, non-slip shoes that will secure to the foot (no flip flops, slides or Crocs)

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The East Race Waterway has a moderate to loud noise level. Employees work primarily in an outdoor environment in all types of weather conditions. At times the heat and noise level can be extreme. Must be able to work well with the public.
