Job description

SALARY: up to $16 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY: Employees would drive Venues Parks & Arts (VPA) department vehicles used to haul rafting equipment. Load and unload trucks with rafting equipment which includes rafts, helmets, paddles and life jackets during East Race rafting hours and private rentals. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Employees are responsible for driving/hauling rafting equipment at the East Race using department vehicles.
  • Employees are responsible for loading and unloading rafts, helmets, paddles, and life jackets.
  • Employees are responsible for pulling rafts from the end of the East Race course and loading them onto trucks for delivery back to the head gates.
  • Employees may be responsible in assisting in handing out or gathering equipment such as rafts, helmets, paddles, and lifejackets.
  • Employees may be responsible for assisting lifeguards.
  • Employees are responsible for performing pre-shift vehicle checklist and post shift vehicle check list.
  • Employees are responsible for inspecting the facility/equipment and reporting any unsafe conditions, or damaged equipment to the Aquatic Manager or Supervisor on duty.
  • Employees are responsible for enforcing all park and aquatic policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Employees are responsible for attending and participating in all regular in-service training courses.
  • Employees are responsible for completing incident reports and other records.

NON-ESSENTIAL/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Aquatics and Ice Manager or East Race Supervisor.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 years of age with a valid driver?s license.
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively with guests, employees and others.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Working around large trucks

CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATION:

  • Valid Driver?s license required.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification (can provide training)

EQUIPMENT: Trucks, trailers, non-slip shoes that will secure to the foot (no flip flops, slides, or Crocs)

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The East Race Waterway has a moderate to loud noise level. Employees work primarily in an outdoor environment in all types of weather conditions. At times the heat and noise level can be extreme. Must be able to work well with the public.
