Job summary

PURVIS Systems is seeking a Mechanical Designer/Drafter to support mechanical design and drafting for U.S. Navy submarine programs using Autodesk AutoCAD. The role involves developing drawings, conducting ship checks, and assisting with documentation per Navy standards.

Under supervision, you will update drawings, participate in design reviews, and collaborate with engineers and project staff. Travel to naval installations is possible, with exposure to confined spaces and ladders.

Qualifications

• Eligible to obtain a government security clearance (SECRET).
• Experience 1–4 years in mechanical design or drafting (entry-level candidates with education considered).
• Familiarity with submarine platforms, ship systems, or Navy alteration packages.

Responsibilities

• Develop 2D & 3D mechanical designs, installation and arrangement drawings.
• Create and maintain Lists of Material (LOM); interpret Government Furnished Information (GFI).
• Perform drafting per company standards and conduct ship checks on U.S. Navy submarines.
• Update drawings from redlines; participate in internal design reviews.
• Communicate design intent with engineers and project staff; travel to naval installations as needed.
