Job summary

Serco is seeking an Advanced Mechanical Assembler to support U.S. Naval Ships, including installations on Navy ships and military facilities.

You will follow blueprints to assemble electromechanical units, perform preventive maintenance, and work in challenging environments aboard vessels and shipyards in Virginia and potentially Newport News, VA. The role requires a high school diploma, ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance, shipyard access, OSHA and respirator qualifications, and 5+ years

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
Ability to access shipyards and pass background/drug screening.
OSHA certification is desirable.
Respirator qualification and PPE use required.
Forklift certification desirable.
5+ years with power tools and assembling mechanical/electrical assemblies.
Shipboard experience preferred.
Ability to read blueprints and assembly drawings.
Willingness to work 2nd/3rd shift and overtime.

Responsibilities

Follow blueprints, guidelines, and diagrams to fabricate and assemble electromechanical and electronic assemblies.
Maintain equipment by performing preventive maintenance and reporting malfunctions.
Work with standard concepts and procedures in the field.
Plan and accomplish goals with limited experience and judgment.
Work onboard naval ships and installations in challenging environments.
Handle equipment with care to avoid injuries.
