Description

The Oncology Nurse Navigator (ONN) serves as a consistent resource throughout the continuum of cancer care. This RN is knowledgeable about the multiple treatment decisions, strong emotions and financial impact of a cancer diagnosis. The ONN will triage the physical, psychological and social needs of the patient and significant others, offering intervention and /or referrals as needed.

Primary Goals

• Enable patients with information and education, thereby reducing stress involved in a cancer diagnosis
• Empower the patient to participate in their personal care process
• Improve understanding of their decisions and treatment plans
• Complete the treatment through the point of survivorship planning (when applicable)

Required Qualifications

• Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement
• Oregon Registered Nurse License upon hire
• National Provider BLS – American Heart Association upon hire
• OCN within 18 months of hire
• 3 years Oncology experience

Preferred Qualifications

• OCN upon hire
• Case management or Clinical Trial Nurse experience
