Job summary

Leidos/Gibbs & Cox is seeking a Naval Structural Designer to join our Newport News, VA team. You will produce detailed 2D drawings, 3D models and 2D assembly drawings guided by ship specifications and regulatory requirements, collaborating with naval architects and engineers.

The role requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance, with experience in shipbuilding and proficiency in AutoCAD.

Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
Associates Degree or 3+ Years of relevant experience in lieu of an Associate's Degree.
3+ years of experience with Structural Design, 3D Modeling and 2D Drawing development.
Proficient in AutoCAD.
Experience working in the shipbuilding industry.
Strong time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Utilizing ShipConstructor to develop Structural 3D models based on Functional Drawings and/or redlines associated with change paper, develop 3D Foundations for equipment, develop Structural Assembly Drawings for Primary Structure and Foundations.
Preparing accurate and detailed designs, free form surface models and/or drawings based on concept sketches, photographs, or clearly stated functional requirements or appearances.
Working closely with our clients, naval architects and engineers to produce high quality, detail ship design products and drawings.
