AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a highly experienced technician for tasks involving testing and evaluation of SONAR systems and related equipment. You will support engineers and Navy personnel across a variety of technical assignments, including analysis, design layouts, and documentation development.

Candidate should have a US Navy submarine sonar background, exposure to acoustic intelligence or surveillance equipment, and be able to assist with short-term at-sea operations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma with 15+ years of technician experience.
• US Navy submarine sonar and recording systems expertise.
• Acoustic Intelligence or submarine surveillance equipment program experience.
• Linux experience desired.
• Ability to support short term at-sea operations.

Responsabilités

• Performs research and engineering laboratory functions involving testing, analysis and evaluation of SONAR systems, sensors, interfaces and processes.
• Provides technical support to engineers and US Navy personnel on a variety of technical tasks.
• Analyzes technical data to determine applicability to design problems; selects from several possible design layouts; calculates design data; and prepares layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, estimates, procedures, etc.
• Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
• Review technical documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).
• Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data; conducts trajectory analyses as needed.
• Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.
• Assembles electrical and electronic systems and prototypes according to engineering data and knowledge of electrical principles, using hand tools and measuring instruments.
• Sets up and operates test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions, and records results.
