Job summary

The Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University seeks a Software Development Technical Leader to support Navy customers in acquiring a critical software-based maintenance and readiness application. You will provide technical leadership across the lifecycle, collaborating with PEOs/PMOs, sustainment teams, contractors, and fleet stakeholders to ensure mission-ready solutions.

You will lead development across C and C++ implementations for high-performance, mission-critical

Qualifications

  • BS in CS or EE with 10 years of relevant experience.
  • MS with 8 years or PhD with 5 years.
  • Experience designing complex software architectures.
  • Deep understanding of C and C++ development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture analysis and sustainment planning.
  • Provide technical leadership for fleet-facing app development.
  • Advise Navy PEOs/PMOs on design decisions and risks.
  • Lead software development from concept to deployment.
  • Develop design artifacts (data-flow diagrams, interfaces).
  • Identify technical debt and modernization opportunities.
  • Develop prototypes for risk reduction and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with Navy and government stakeholders.
  • Mentor a team of developers.
  • Support TIMs and design reviews.
  • Stay updated on naval modernization initiatives.
