Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. seeks a Welder, Combination, Maintenance for waterfront shipboard construction and modernization near U.S. Naval ships. You will work in shipyards and drydocks, facing varied temperatures and demanding schedules.

The role requires reading blueprints, applying welding processes, and maintaining safety standards. A Secret clearance is preferred or may be obtained; on-site work in Norfolk, VA with regular hours and travel up to 25% may apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years of related welding experience.
• US Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Applies appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, or repair parts of metal or other materials that require welding.
• Works from blueprints, engineering sketches, charts, or work orders.
• Lays out and marks points on parts or subassemblies using rule, square, scribe or templates.
• Uses measuring instruments and hand tools to position pieces that require welding into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools.
• May inspect completed work for conformance to specifications.
• Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
• Participates in special projects, as required.
