Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Trades Planner to join the Pipe Shop. The role involves developing and issuing planning documents, coordinating with teams and government personnel, and ensuring schedules align with project requirements.

The work requires reading drawings and using MS Word/Excel, with access to Navy facilities and DBIDS/NAVSEA badges. The position emphasizes safety, attendance, and ability to work on vessels, tanks, and confined spaces, with overtime as needed

Qualifications

• Typically has a BA/BS in a related field, or AA/AS plus two years’ directly related experience, or six years’ directly related experience.
• Must be familiar with working in a naval ship yard environment and be able to work aboard marine vessels, climb ladders, work in tanks and confined spaces, and wear PPE.
• Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Must possess ability to effectively communicate with other disciplines and resolve planning conflicts.
• Must possess the ability to read drawings, blueprints, standard items, and specifications.
• Must have working knowledge of NMD Planning and Execution Modules.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Ship-Checks as required.
• Integrate, review and validate planning process with primary parties and government on a weekly basis.
• Prepare advanced planning reports for dissemination to government for processing.
• Conduct meetings to inform key personnel of planning updates.
• Work closely with Estimators to ensure information supports an integrated planning schedule.
• Other duties as assigned.
