Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO in Norfolk, VA, seeks a Trades Planner for the Sheet Metal Shop. The role focuses on developing, issuing, and distributing planning documents and work items in line with applicable instructions and procedures.

You will coordinate with government and primary parties to maintain an integrated planning schedule and ensure timely updates. The position requires naval yard experience, ability to read drawings, and strong MS Word/Excel skills, with access to Navy facilities via

• Typically has BA/BS in a related field, or AA/AS plus two years' directly related experience, or six years' directly related experience.
• Must be familiar with working in a naval ship yard environment and be able to work aboard marine vessels, climb ladders, work in tanks and confined spaces, and wear personal protective equipment.
• Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Integrate, review and validate planning process with primary parties and government affiliations on a weekly basis to ensure compliance.
• Prepare advanced planning reports for dissemination to government for processing
• Conduct meeting to inform key personnel of planning updates
• Work closely with Estimators to ensure all information is represented appropriately to produce an integrated planning schedule.

We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Sheet Metal Shop. This position specifically islocated in Norfolk, Virginia. We are looking for a Trades Planner.

Must be able Must be able to access all Navy installations and other shipyards by obtaining DBIDS and NAVSEA badges.

• ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND PURPOSE (Job Description)

The shop planner is responsible for d eveloping (prepare/write/revise), issuing and distributing assigned planning documents, procedures and work items in accordance with all applicable instructions, directives and procedures.

• POSITION DEMANDS (Education/Training/Experience)
• Typically has a BA/BS in a related field, or AA/AS plus two (2) years' directly related experience, or six (6) years' directly related experience.
• Must be familiar with working in a naval ship yard environment and be able to work aboard marine vessels, climb ladders, work in tanks and confined spaces, and wear personal protective equipment.
• Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Must possess expert ability to effectively communicate with other disciplines or groups and resolve planning conflicts.
• Must possess the ability to read drawings, blueprints, standard items, and specifications of work items.
• Must have a working knowledge of NMD Planning and Execution Modules.

Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects or control, and to talk and hear. Must have good eye/hand coordination.
