Job summary

Valkyrie Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a skilled Welder to perform welding on Naval Ships in Norfolk, VA. Read blueprints, interpret welding symbols, and follow MIL-STD 22D. Must meet NAVSEA 248 and obtain DoD Secret clearance.

You will work in a team, mentor junior welders, travel up to 50%, and adhere to OSHA safety policies. Requires a high school diploma or GED and experience with SMAW and GMAW. Willingness to travel and work extended hours is expected.

Qualifications

• Must have a Highschool diploma or GED and at least 5 years of experience.
• Must pass weld qualifications (2G, 3G, & 4G) SMAW, Process GMAW.
• Must meet NAVSEA 248 requirements by MIL-STD 1689 weld workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and rough sketches. Use drawings and specifications to plan welding operations.
• Ensure that work is in accordance with relevant codes and standards.
• Interpret welding symbols IAW MIL-STD 22D.
• Provide welding services on steel and aluminum piping, structural shapes, and various materials for vessel repair or modification.
• Set up and use welding equipment and tools.
• Mentor junior welders in drawing interpretation and welding techniques.
• Oversee workmanship inspectors and document fit-up and welds per requirements.
• Comply with OSHA, shipyard safety, and environmental policies.
