Job summary

You will work closely with the Ship Design Manager at NSWCPD to review, develop, and integrate ship specifications and production deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Open to entry-level to journeyman-level engineers (0–7+ years).
• Solid grounding in mechanical engineering principles, fluids, thermodynamics, and rotating machinery.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical and systems engineering support across ship machinery and propulsion systems.
• Review construction drawings, prepare redlines, and coordinate SME feedback.
• Develop and update ship specifications and technical requirements for program delivery.
• Witness tests on-site or at shipyards, document observations and concerns.
• Identify risks and perform reliability analyses on components and systems.
