Job summary

TRISTAR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the U.S. Navy SEWIP program at NSWC Crane. You will develop mechanical designs, create ICDs, and manage 3D CAD models and technical data packages for shipboard electronic warfare hardware and supporting equipment.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years of DoD-focused mechanical engineering experience, strong CAD proficiency (NX/Creo/Solid Edge/AutoCAD), and GD&T expertise, with the ability to obtain a Secret clearance and work on-site in Indiana.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 10 years of mechanical engineering experience supporting DoD, aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or complex technical systems.
  • Experience developing engineering drawings, mechanical assemblies, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with CAD platforms including Siemens NX, Creo Parametric, Solid Edge, and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Ability to interpret engineering specifications, mechanical drawings, and technical standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, update, and maintain mechanical designs, engineering drawings, and technical data packages for AN/SLQ-32(V)7 hardware and supporting equipment.
  • Create and revise Installation Control Drawings (ICDs), assembly drawings, detail drawings, and shipboard installation packages.
  • Generate and validate 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering documentation using industry-standard mechanical design tools.
  • Review mechanical designs for accuracy, manufacturability, maintainability, and compliance with program requirements.
  • Support Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Technical Data Package (TDP) updates, and configuration management activities.
  • Verify model dimensions and drawing requirements against engineering standards and released documentation.
  • Convert and migrate engineering drawings and models between CAD platforms while maintaining configuration control.
  • Support design reviews, technical interchange meetings, working groups, and engineering assessments.
  • Conduct engineering investigations and root-cause analyses related to hardware performance, installation issues, and fleet-reported deficiencies.
  • Develop technical reports, engineering analyses, recommendations, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with electrical, systems, logistics, manufacturing, and government engineering personnel throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Assist with shipboard integration activities, modernization efforts, and product improvements supporting fleet readiness.
