Job summary

TRISTAR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the U.S. Navy's SEWIP program at NSWC Crane. You will design, develop, document, and sustain shipboard EW systems, maintaining technical data packages and ICDs while ensuring Navy compliance.

The role requires a Master's in Mechanical Engineering, 10+ years in defense or complex systems, and DoD CAD experience. You will collaborate across disciplines and may contribute to modernization and fleet readiness initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience in DoD, aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or complex systems.
• Experience developing mechanical drawings, assemblies, and technical documentation.
• Proficiency with CAD platforms: NX, Creo, Solid Edge, AutoCAD.
• Experience with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Ability to interpret engineering specifications, drawings and standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and maintain mechanical designs, drawings, and technical data for AN/SLQ-32(V)7 hardware and related equipment.
• Create and revise Installation Control Drawings (ICDs), assembly and detail drawings, and shipboard installation packages.
• Generate and validate 3D CAD models, assemblies, and documentation.
• Review designs for accuracy, manufacturability, maintenance, and compliance with requirements.
• Support Engineering Change Proposals, TDP updates, and configuration management.
• Verify model dimensions against engineering standards and released docs.
• Convert and migrate drawings/models between CAD platforms with configuration control.
• Support design reviews, technical interchange meetings, working groups, and assessments.
• Conduct engineering investigations and root-cause analyses.
• Develop technical reports, analyses, recommendations, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with electrical, systems, logistics, manufacturing, and government engineers.
• Assist with shipboard integration, modernization, and product improvements.

TRISTAR is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the U.S. Navy's AN/SLQ-32(V)7 Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program (SEWIP) at Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane. The selected candidate will provide mechanical engineering support for the design, development, documentation, integration, installation, and lifecycle sustainment of shipboard Electronic Warfare systems. The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining technical data packages, creating and updating installation control drawings, validating engineering models, supporting engineering investigations, and ensuring system designs meet Navy requirements. Candidates should possess strong CAD modeling experience and be capable of working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment supporting fleet modernization and sustainment efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and maintain mechanical designs, engineering drawings, and technical data packages for AN/SLQ-32(V)7 hardware and supporting equipment.

• Coordinate with electrical, systems, logistics, manufacturing, and government engineering personnel throughout the design lifecycle.
• Assist with shipboard integration activities, modernization efforts, and product improvements supporting fleet readiness.
