Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology, Inc. is seeking a Safety Assistant II to support installation and modernization efforts for Navy, Coast Guard, and other commands. You will help ensure safe operations on site and contribute to a smarter, safer workplace.

Experience: 1+ years of related experience
Technical skills: Microsoft Office familiarity
Required skills and abilities: Good communication, time management, knowledge of OSHA standards and environmental regulations
US citizenship required
Role requirements: Location is customer site

Responsibilities

Monitors and evaluates the workplace to ensure compliance with all relevant local, state and federal safety and environmental regulations.
Conduct surveillance at jobsites and provide feedback to workers and leadership on safety improvements.
Provide training to workforce on GDIT, local, state, federal and NAVSEA policies and procedures.
Must be able to obtain and maintain access to private shipyards and government installations.
Assist the waterfront workforce and team leaders in environmental compliance such as tracking usage and emissions of hazardous substances.
Exercise the ability to operate independently and provide inputs for process improvement to better protect the workforce and meet customer expectations.
