Job summary

Bowhead seeks a Combat Systems RADAR Engineer/Scientist to join the Advanced Sensor Systems Division at NSWCDD, Dahlgren, supporting naval radar and sensor systems including DBR, G/ATOR, SPY-1/6, ERDDS, and ECDCS. 100% on-site at customer site.

The role focuses on test planning, system integration, and performance validation with DoD customers, requiring aBachelor’s in engineering and Navy Combat Systems experience, plus MATLAB and MS Office proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; 4+ years of DoD/industry experience.
• Navy Combat Systems engineering experience.
• Hands-on system testing, validation, and verification including hardware-software integration.
• Experience developing and executing test plans, procedures, and reports for complex systems.
• Experience with automated testing tools and data analysis (e.g., MATLAB).
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels and work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement detailed test plans, procedures, and schedules for naval surface systems.
• Conduct system integration, qualification, and environmental tests to assess performance and reliability.
• Work with engineering teams to identify root causes and propose design/corrective actions.
• Participate in design reviews, test readiness reviews, and technical meetings.
• Recommend process improvements, testing methodologies, and tools to enhance efficiency and performance.
