Qualifications

• Requires a professional engineering degree with ABET accreditation or equivalent coursework in engineering science areas.
• Experience/education must demonstrate leadership and technical direction for nuclear engineering projects.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative and technical supervision for a branch within the Nuclear Engineering and Planning Department.
• Provide first line supervision for the group of subordinate nuclear engineers and technicians.
• Use coaching, mentoring, and directing leadership styles.
• Promote collaboration and teamwork.
• Promote continuous learning and development of branch employees.
• Participate in developing training for the branch, division, and department.
• Acquire advanced knowledge of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program and nuclear systems.
• Approve preliminary plans for accomplishment and risk assessments for new nuclear work.
• Ensure safety regulations are followed and PPE is worn in required areas.
• Make risk-based decisions and mitigate risk.
• Investigate and resolve deficiencies using a systems approach.
• Balance workload using overtime, resources, and efficiencies.
