Job summary

Austal USA is seeking a seasoned Marine/Mechanical Engineer to lead design efforts and oversee department goals for naval projects, reporting to the Chief Department Engineer and Program Engineer. You will coordinate design calculations and drawing development to support program goals and ensure accuracy by checking calculations.

Collaborating with production, multiple design teams and suppliers, you will help progress all department work while adhering to schedules and maritime regulatory

Qualifications

• Minimum 8+ years of design and/or construction experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Understanding of ship and propulsion systems.
• US Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee department goals for a specific project as directed by the Program Engineer and Chief Department Engineer
• Prepare, oversee and assign design calculations and drawing development to support program goals
• Check calculations
