Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries in Norfolk, VA, seeks a Marine Interior Communications (IC) Electrician to diagnose and repair shipboard interior communication systems (1MC, 3MC, 5MC). You will perform maintenance with test equipment, read Navy drawings, and verify configurations to ensure safety and Navy compliance.

You must train Navy sailors, obtain base access, and maintain a DoD clearance. You will bring your own hand tools and contribute to critical carrier maintenance efforts aboard naval

Qualifications

• High School education or trade school or equivalent.
• 6 years of related experience.
• Ability to read technical drawings, manuals, blueprints and/or schematics.
• Must be able to train sailors in troubleshooting and repair of electrical equipment onboard naval vessels.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain base access credentials.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security clearance.
• Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair faults in shipboard interior communication systems, including 1MC, 3MC, and 5MC circuits.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance using electrical test equipment and standard hand tools.
• Interpret drawings, schematics, blueprints, and Navy manuals to guide repairs.
• Verify wiring, equipment placement, and system configurations to ensure Navy standards and safety.
• Train and mentor Navy sailors in troubleshooting and maintaining electrical and IC systems.
• Interface with customers and manage subcontractors; provide work direction when needed.
