Job summary

HII in Newport News, VA seeks an experienced Training Developer to design and deliver in‑house welding training for shipyard roles. You will translate complex welding know‑how into engaging courseware and determine the best teaching methods.

You’ll research inputs, build training aids, deliver sessions, and measure impact. Collaboration with senior technical trainers and ongoing updates to reflect new requirements and latest information are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 6 years progressive professional and/or supervisory experience.
• Master’s degree with 4 years relevant experience.
• Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate a plus.
• Apprentice School graduate considered.
• Associate’s degree or 2-year program with 2 years of exempt experience or 4 years non-exempt experience.
• Military Paygrade E-5 or above preferred.
• High School/GED with 4–8 years in Manufacturing/Shipbuilding/Military.
• Welding background is nice to have.

Responsibilities

• End‑to‑end development of in‑house training for shipyard welding and related roles.
• Research and collect technical inputs to craft accurate courseware.
• Choose methodology (classroom, demos) and create training aids.
• Deliver training sessions and define success metrics to gauge impact.
• Partner with specialized technical trainers for deeper expertise.
• Ongoing updates to lesson plans reflecting new requirements and information.
