Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking a Combat Systems Cyber Engineer to advance cyber resiliency for U.S. Navy submarine and combat systems.

You will work with a team of cyber engineers and SMEs to define, design, and assess resiliency in system-of-systems architectures and conduct cyber evaluations for submarines and related platforms. You will collaborate with developers, government partners, and laboratories to plan cyber test scopes, methodologies, and performance

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Cyber Security, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Submarine Warfare qualified with experience on submarines and their systems, including cyber operations.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Willing to travel occasionally for tests at sponsor/customer sites.
  • Ability to obtain Secret/Top Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Identify cyber vulnerabilities and mitigations for submarine systems to inform resiliency approaches.
  • Collaborate with system developers, government, and cyber teams to design cyber-resilient solutions.
  • Share analysis and methodology across peer groups and organizations.
  • Plan and execute cyber resiliency tests with Navy labs and university centers.
  • Contribute to test planning at developer and Fleet facilities for combat systems.
  • Support assessment of submarine-based systems in cyber test programs.
