Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Naval Architect/Structural Engineer with 3+ years of hands-on naval experience to work onsite at MARMC in Norfolk, VA. You will perform structural assessments, evaluate ship conditions, plan repairs, and ensure Navy-wide standards are met.

Responsibilities include inspecting structures, responding to ESRs, completing corrosion-certification training within 8 months, and coordinating with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• BS in Structural Engineering or Naval Architecture from ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum 3 years hands-on experience inspecting and maintaining naval ship structures.
• 3 years of structural analysis experience to Navy standards.
• US citizen with ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance (interim by day one if needed).
• Travel may be less than 10%.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance, assessment, and corrective actions as tasked.
• Inspect and assess current ship condition and determine corrective steps.
• Respond to Engineering Service Requests (ESR) and Departures from Specification (Client) when applicable.
• Complete certification courses within 8 months after hire pertaining to corrosion assessment.
