Job summary

Air National Services in Cedar Rapids, IA, seeks an Experienced Traveling Commercial HVAC Service Technician to support data center projects across the U.S. You’ll handle startup, commissioning, and service of complex HVAC systems in mission-critical facilities.

You’ll work with one of our local operating companies when home to support regional clients. This nationwide role requires 5+ years of HVAC experience, EPA Universal Certification, and a willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial HVAC service experience with chillers, hydronic systems, VRF, RTUs, packaged equipment or mission-critical cooling systems preferred.
• EPA Universal Certification required; OEM-specific training or certifications preferred.
• Skilled in diagnostics, troubleshooting, and interpreting service manuals and schematics.
• Strong communication and customer service skills with a professional, team-focused mindset.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; able to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Physically capable of lifting heavy equipment, climbing ladders, and working in various field conditions, including rooftops and tight spaces.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and optimize a range of commercial HVAC systems.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships; address service concerns and communicate clearly.
• Coordinate with internal teams to schedule and follow up; complete service reports and work orders.
• Stay up to date through ongoing technical training; mentor junior technicians.
• Follow OSHA guidelines and safety requirements.
• Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
• Support team with additional duties as needed.
