Job summary

Transco Rail Services, part of Marmon Holdings (backed by Berkshire Hathaway), seeks skilled railcar repair technicians. You will inspect, repair, and weld railcars, travel nationwide as needed, and uphold safety and quality standards.

Applicants should have tank car experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to read drawings. Must be legally eligible to work in the United States. This is a full-time, travel‑heavy role with strong safety expectations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to read written instructions and follow safety procedures.
• Ability to safely operate machinery including large work vehicles and forklifts.
• Dependable with scheduled shifts and potential overtime.
• Ability to learn basic railcar knowledge and read engineering drawings.
• Proficiency with basic hand and power tools.
• DOT requirements pass is a plus; NDT certifications may be required later.
• Railcar welding and related knowledge preferred.
• Legal to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Inspect railcars and perform required repairs to tank and hopper cars.
• Perform repairs and welding as needed while following safety standards.
• Coordinate repairs to be completed within assigned hours.
• Maintain a tidy, safe work area and report hazards.
• Notify supervision of materials or equipment needs.
• Interact effectively with team and supervision to meet customer expectations.
• Ensure invoicing, inspection, and work order information is complete and accurate.
• Participate in safety assessments and equipment inspections.
• Follow all safety rules; may join safety committees; perform other duties as assigned.
