The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks an ontology-focused professional to join the Threat Analytic Systems (QAI) Group in Maryland. You will build ontologies to bridge data, events, and predictions for national security needs.

You will collaborate with software engineers and data scientists, engage stakeholders to define requirements, and contribute to QA and validation. TS/SCI+poly eligibility is required for consideration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to Ontology or similar domains.
  • Proficiency with OWL, RDF(S) and RDF formats.
  • Experience crafting SPARQL queries.
  • Experience building domain ontologies.
  • Familiarity with ontology editors and related tools listed above.
  • Ability to work from loosely defined requirements on multiple projects.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and organizational skills.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain TS/SCI+poly clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Build ontologies and capabilities for national security mission needs with software engineers and data scientists.
  • Engage stakeholders to determine ontology requirements and craft content with SMEs.
  • Contribute to QA, validation practices and semantic accuracy of representations.
  • Collaborate on multiple dynamic projects supporting evolving national security requirements.
