Job summary

Penn State University seeks a Director of Industry and Federal Partnerships to drive external engagement and expand sponsored research and partnerships in national and economic security.

Reporting to the NSI Director, you will build relationships with industry, federal sponsors, and other partners, represent NSI at events, and oversee engagement programs while using AI-enabled tools for market intelligence and planning with rigorous validation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with 6+ years.
• Experience in industry relations, sponsor engagement, or research development in higher education or government contexts.
• Ability to translate research capabilities into partnership opportunities and external engagement.

Responsibilities

• Develop and cultivate strategic partnerships with industry and federal sponsors to advance NSI priorities.
• Lead outreach and engagement activities at conferences, workshops, site visits, and events to raise NSI visibility.
• Promote NSI capabilities through presentations and partner-facing communications with university offices.
• Maintain institutional knowledge of faculty expertise and facilities to enable engagement pathways.
• Conduct market research and environmental scanning to identify opportunities; leverage AI-enabled tools appropriately.
• Track metrics and coordinate university engagement across Penn State units.
