The role reports to the Washington Enterprise Editor and collaborates with national security, tech, and corporate reporting teams. You will develop sources and translate complex programs into gripping narratives for a global audience.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional journalism on a competitive beat.
• Deep sourcing within the intelligence community, military, Capitol Hill or cybersecurity sectors.
• Use data, digital forensics, or investigative techniques to find original approaches to complex subjects.
• Expertise in translating technical programs into authoritative, clear narratives for a global audience.
• Collaborative spirit and desire to work with visuals, graphics, and data teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop original, agenda-setting enterprise and investigative stories on the U.S. intelligence apparatus and defense establishments.
• Find angles to advance major breaking national security news under tight deadlines.
• Unearth and report fresh features on clandestine operations and cyber threats.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the bureau and around the world on ambitious, large-scale projects and series.
